Impacto psicológico del diagnóstico, ansiedad por la salud, adherencia al tratamiento y estigmatización social en personas con VIH/SIDA en Tegucigalpa y Yoro
Portillo Venegas, Gretel Andrea Michelle
The present study aimed to analyze the relationship between the impact of diagnosis, health anxiety, treatment adherence, and social stigmatization in people with HIV/AIDS in Tegucigalpa and Yoro, Honduras. The methodology used was mixed, with a concurrent design. In the quantitative component, the design is non-experimental and cross-sectional, while the qualitative component is based on a phenomenological approach. Three data collection instruments were used: the Brief Health Anxiety Measure (MBA), the Treatment Adherence Scale (SMA-Q), and the Perceived Stigma Scale by Berger. The sample consisted of 60 people with HIV from the cities of Tegucigalpa and Yoro. According to the results obtained in this study, concerning the quantitative component, no significant relationships were found when correlating health anxiety and treatment adherence. Among the main categories and subcategories of the qualitative component, we can mention the emotional impact of the diagnosis, protective factors, risk factors, experiences of stigma and discrimination, and physical changes. At the same time, thematic triangulation was conducted between the quantitative and qualitative components. The results suggest that people tend to develop defense mechanisms to cope with the impact of receiving an HIV diagnosis. On the other hand, it was also evident that individuals continue to engage in rituals to keep their medical condition hidden due to fear of societal rejection.

Estilos de Crianza y Estrategias de Afrontamiento del Estrés como predictores del Bienestar Psicológico de los adolescentes en centros educativos, Choluteca, Honduras
Oseguera López, María Kibett
The present study aimed to analyze parenting styles and stress-coping strategies as
predictors of psychological well-being among adolescents in schools in Choluteca,
Honduras. The methodology used was quantitative, with a non-experimental, crosssectional
design. Three data collection instruments were used: the Steinberg Parenting Styles Scale, the COPE-28 Brief Coping Inventory, and the Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS). The sample consisted of 320 students from four schools in the city ofCholuteca. Based on the results obtained in the present study, a multiple linear regression model was used. Sex, age, grade, school, parenting styles, and coping strategies were considered independent variables. The model was statistically significant, indicating that these variables explain 23.10% of the variance in life
satisfaction. When analyzing individual predictors, it was found that greater active
coping (β = .47279, p = .035) and a more engaged parenting style (β = .18895, p = .001)
predicted higher life satisfaction scores. None of the other independent variables were
statistically significant (p > .05). These results are discussed in light of the theory and its
potential implications.

The present study aimed to understand, from the participants' own experience, the psychological impact of diagnosis and treatment on family members of patients with cystic fibrosis. The methodology used was qualitative, with a phenomenological design. Semi-structured interviews were used as an instrument to collect information and were conducted with 12 primary caregivers and 4 health personnel for data triangulation. Among the main emerging themes were the pre-, during-, and post-diagnosis experience; experience during treatment, concerning the primary associated emotions, among others; impact on human relationships, both in family members and peers, and the specific impact on parents; on academic performance due to school absenteeism and the primary sources of support being family and religion. In general, relatives show a positive attitude towards the disease through selective attention to aspects such as access to treatment and the probability of improvement. In addition, this life experience strengthens their faith and their beliefs in a higher being who is in control of all things. Similarly, they tend to have positive illusions based on hope, which allows them to reduce the experience of fear and negative repercussions.

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between compassion fatigue syndrome and symptoms of depression and anxiety among nursing staff working in the COVID-19 ward at the Hospital Escuela during the year 2023. The research stems from growing evidence that nursing professionals, who are constantly exposed to human suffering and high-pressure conditions, are vulnerable to developing emotional distress that compromises their psychological well-being and job performance. The study followed a quantitative approach with a non-experimental, correlational design. The sample consisted of 77 nursing professionals who completed three validated instruments: the ProQOL-V scale, the PHQ-9 for depression, and the GAD-7 for anxiety. Results showed that compassion satisfaction had the highest mean score (M = 38.8), followed by burnout (M = 37.6), and compassion fatigue (M = 17.8) as the lowest. A statistically significant relationship was found between compassion fatigue and anxiety (R = 0.314, p = 0.005), while no significant association was observed between compassion fatigue and depression. Additionally, a strong correlation between anxiety and depression was identified (R = 0.707, p < 0.001). These findings suggest that emotional stress in critical hospital contexts tends to manifest more frequently as anxiety, emphasizing the need to implement institutional programs focused on emotional support and self-care for nursing staff.
