Resumen:
The present investigation arises with the need to identify the processes that are carried out in the management of student files in the secretariat of the San Martin de Tegucigalpa Government Technical Institute, frequently presenting inconsistencies and problems in the actions related to the reception, location, and delivery of these, influencing the effectiveness of the activities carried out by the collaborators of the educational institution. Due to the above, the implementation of a document management tool is described that optimizes the handling of documents, improving the different processes that are carried out in the required information cycle and its impact on the number of documents processed and completed as well as the management of the time that collaborators take to carry out each of the tasks. For this research, a working hypothesis is proposed aimed at measuring the relationship between the use of technology in the implementation of a document management tool and the effectiveness of information management, being statistically verified for its correct acceptance or rejection. As the main result, a software tool was implemented that contributes to the improvement of the activities carried out in the management of student records, optimizing workflows and quality of service, particularly in the institution's secretariat; On the other hand, the processes carried out by the collaborators were measured by applying a pre-test and post-test, observing a notorious improvement in the effectiveness, efficiency and consequently in the effectiveness of the activities raised in the handling of the files students for each of the departments of the institution.
