Abstract:
Infidelity is an act that coexists within society and is becoming more frequent every day. The present study aims to determine the relationship between infidelity and psychological well-being, determining the causes and possible consequences of infidelity. Eight patients participated voluntarily four women and four men with married marital status and with an age range between 25 and 41 years old. Two instruments were applied, a guide referring to faithful behavior and another to unfaithful behavior. The results show significant qualitative relationships between infidelity and the psychological well-being experienced by the participants. It shows that infidelity directly affects the psychological well-being of people, supported by the problems of low self-esteem presented by the victims of infidelity and those who cause it suffering from feelings of guilt. Causing conflicts between the couple which motivates the decision to divorce. It is relevant that this type of phenomenological study based on the relationship between infidelity and psychological well-being should continue to be approached from different points of view such as society, culture, family, patrimonial and legal among others.
