Abstract:
This study responds to a qualitative investigation where the psychological wellbeing
of children and adolescents living in the Noah's Ark Children's Ministry
home was analyzed (according to the six dimensions proposed by Carol Riff). The
sample was carried out with 23 children and adolescents, plus 7 professionals who
work in the center. Results showed that for the children and adolescents in this
study, the relationships they have with their family and their interpersonal
relationships are good, for the most part. They have to work hard on selfacceptance.
Their physical health is very good, because they have everything they
need regarding food, physical space, and education. Among the most significant
results that have been found in children and adolescents is in their mental health,
the emotional part presents difficulties, because stress is present due to the
confinement that they spend daily, plus low self-esteem. The professional
informants express that it is necessary to improve in these areas. In personal
growth the majority are clear about what they want, others are disoriented.
Regarding autonomy, most have their own decisions and have self-respect, others
do not; so, there is improvement. In environment, they present satisfaction and
happiness, they have a good physical space where they can recreate, but some do
not take advantage of it, and there is discouragement. Among the findings, we
observed a lot of disagreement in some of the children and adolescents, not all of
them sincerely express what they think, but from their behavior it is perceived that
some do not feel well.
