Abstract:
Struggling education systems lack "... key elements for learning at the school level: prepared students, effective teaching, learning-centered inputs, and qualified school principals and adequate governance that brings all these elements together..." (IBRD/WB, 2018, p.9). Similarly, the impact of public education as a social investment articulated with the development of skills, promotes young people to enter the productive field and perform well in the labor market. In Honduras, the non-applicability of this can be measured due to causes such as: low budget allocation to the educational system, which generates problems of access to education and educational backwardness; lack of interventionist policies of the State to structure and shape the reproductive functions of education, which not only involves the educational training of students, but also the continuous and permanent training of teachers. The research called public education as the core of social development: its implication in work performance, a study carried out from the participatory action research methodology, approached from the three research paradigms: positivist, interpretative and sociocritical, with a mixed research approach. The results highlight that: teaching competencies are focused on factors that contribute to train them not at the margin of the technological era and the new educational needs at all levels. Therefore, these are focused by analyzing four dimensions: technical, methodological, social, and personal, from the point of view of the teacher and the educational authorities of the educational centers. Regarding students' learning, this generation of students respect that they learn better when they are allowed to consider their own ideas about a subject. In some cases, they learn best when they personally put the task into practice by being receptive and open-minded to learning from the context. And finally, the discursive concentration of the Sankey diagram highlights the most salient codes within the analysis of aprioristic categories and emergent codes: knowledge, professionalism, evaluation, development, teaching, educational projects, use of ICTs, among others.
